One thing that has hit me as I've decided about whether to continue to blog or not.....is that I'm a sharer - of everything.
Especially ideas, crafts and FUN!
So, #1 this blog will represent most of what our family is doing as we try to eek out all of the 'life' there is to explore, enjoy, and learn. #2 I want to continue to keep sharing different things we find that are fun or crafts that we make for various reasons.
Because I get to hang out with the teenage girls in our church, I am always scouring Pinterest and Sugar Doodle for fun ideas for church-related activities (love other people who share, too). I decided I should share a couple that we've done lately that were really big hits with the girls (and ok, the leaders, too).
Our Bishop has challenged the girls (and leaders) to read the scriptures, specifically The Book of Mormon in a certain amount of time. We decided to help the girls out by having a monthly activity where the girls come to my house to read, then we try out different breakfast food recipes on them.
So far, we have had this activity on a random Friday night. Once in January, once in February. And we will do it again in March and April (the end of the specific time our Bishop has encouraged).
We normally all scatter through my house and we set a timer to read for 30 minutes. Then we gather back in our family room and share (if you feel like it) with the others what you read, etc.. Then we divide up again for another 30 minutes. I found that each time the timer goes off after the 30 minutes, the kids kept reading to finish up their specific chapter, etc.
Then the fun begins. We bake up goodies for the kids (and us). We eat and eat and laugh and laugh. We have REALLY had some fun, fun times with this.
This specific night we made TONS pancakes with buttermilk & maple syrup. Also, homemade jam and powdered sugar on them.
Saydee made up her orange julius (6 batches).
We had a couple of boys crash our party when it was pancake time. They did end up coming the next time and reading with us, too.
This really was fun and I found myself so excited for the next one (pictures and a recipe or two to share).
